Student Organizations

College Republicans

The purpose of the organization/club shall be to make known and promote the principles of the Republican party among the students of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, to recruit UMHB students as members of the club and as members of the Republican party, to aid in the election of Republican candidates at all levels of government, and to develop political skills and leadership abilities among the Republican students as preparation for future service by them to the party and community. All organization activities must conform to one or more of these purposes, and the elected officers shall assume responsibility and maintain accountability for furthering the purpose of the organization. College Republicans is to help educate young voters on why they might be Republicans. Many young voters might say, "I am a republican because that is how I was raised" or "my parents vote Republican, therefore I am one." Those reasons are okay but the purpose of this organization would be to help educate young voters on the policies that their candidates want to put in place and the platforms that they run on. This organization is set out 10 show that the decisions made by the people in Washington D.C. directly affect them and it is important that they vote and understand who and what they are voting for. College Republicans will set out to help young voters on campus find their political identity so that they know exactly why they vote for the party the vote for and they know exactly what policies they vote on and why they vote for them.
